Our very story follows the journey of two pretentious tourists, Alec and Tommy, who search for a way to obtain great wealth. They encounter many obstacles in their path, such as fighting off sickness, fending themselves from authority, evading killer snakes, and running from a mad elephant. The journey is odd enough but when Alec begins to lose touch with reality, things become even more curious. In the wake of their departure, Alec is having strange dreams that turn into unexplained nightmares. His past haunts him throughout the novel and after meeting a gang of rival poachers, he struggles with thoughts of revenge only to stray farther into the jungle and, to the jungle of his own mind.
