In July, 2118, three starships leave Earth, the first effort to colonize a planet beyond Earth's solar system; nine years later two arrive at a planet in the Alpha Centauri system. This story covers the first 75 years of that adventure, and ends with the final test to determine success or failure; years in which challenges arise, and both the best and worst of human nature will come to the fore. Science fiction, fantasy, or a tale of a possible future? The author prefers to think of it as the latter
