Like the posing of the body (Vol. 8) and of the hands (Vol. 12), the posing of the female model’s hair can make or break a portrait. It is for this reason that many photographers employ not only a makeup artist but also a hair stylist.
While the hair stylist creates the pose of the hair, it is the role of the photographer to light that pose well — to maintain detail in the hair while also maintaining detail in the brighter portions of the image.
