Petra Richartz was born 1978 in Cologne, Germany. To her own surprise, her debut novel Abducted (Verschleppt, 2012) was an instant hit in Germany, even winning the German equivalent to the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award 2013. It is the first in the series of crime novels about San Diego PD Detective Sara Cooper. Without Mercy (Gnadenlos, 2013), the second book in the series, is out in Germany and will soon be available in English.
