The Nuremberg Trials – The Complete Proceedings Vol 15: (The Third Reich from Original Sources) (English Edition)

    Por Bob Carruthers

    Sobre

This is the fifteenth volume in the complete proceedings of the Nuremberg trial of the German major war criminals before the International Military Tribunal sitting at Nuremberg, Germany.
Taken from the original court transcript this volume covers the proceedings from 27th May to 6th June, 1946 and represents an essential primary source for scholars and general readers alike. The transcripts are complete and contain the whole of the proceedings as taken from the original court documents.
This volume concludes the case of Baldur von Schirach, the head of the Hitler Youth. At the time of his trial he was one of the few nazis to denounce Hitler, and the inhume treatment of the Jews, although in a speech on 15th September 1942 he mentioned the Viennese Jews' deportation to Poland as a "contribution to European culture."
Also included are the trials of Fritz Saukel and Alfred Jodl, the Chief of the Operations Staff of the Armed Forces High Command. Saukel was responsible for the organisation of the brutal slave labour force that Germany employed from 1942 to the end of the war. He defended the 'arbeitseinsatz' as "nothing to do with exploitation. It is an economic process for supplying labour". One of the principle charges against Jodl related to the Commando and Commissar Orders, which ordered that these prisoners should be summarily executed on capture.
