Lana smirked as she walked through the convention hall. She had gotten so many cat calls and wolf whistles since she had been here, and the staring had pretty much been none stop. She hadn't been this confident when she left the house that morning, sure that her skin tight dark leotard showed off more unflattering things than positive ones.
But her roommates had encouraged her and told her that she looked spectacular, so she had gone out and walked the halls of the convention.
With each passing moment, her confidence grew, and now she was smiling and winking at some of the men and women who were staring at her. She felt good about herself, and she was sure that showed.
Lana had decided that she was going to come to this thing dressed at The Cat Burglar, and she had done just that. She was wearing the dark purple leotard that hugged her curves and left nothing to the imagination, as well as the latex thigh highs, the gloves that came past her elbows, and the classic mask with the cat ears.
Cat Burglar had always been one of her favorite characters when she was a child, and when she grew up and realized that the character was sexy, she knew that she needed to dress up as her someday. And why not now when there were plenty of other people dressed as characters from anime and video games and comic books.
She felt like she belonged here, which was something that she hadn't really felt before. Her love of comics had been something that she was mocked about from time to time, so being able to walk around and meet other people who felt the same way was amazing. Lana had already met people that she planned to keep in touch with, and she didn't think anything could ruin this day for her.
Except perhaps for whoever was following her. She hadn't seen their face yet, and she didn't know if it was a man or a woman, but she knew that there was someone who was dogging her steps. Every time she turned around she saw a flash of dark hair ducking behind a corner, and it was driving her crazy.
They were surrounded by people so it wasn't like there was much this mystery person could actually do to her, but that didn't mean that she was going to get complacent. She had learned too much about people getting kidnapped to do that.
Her first order of business was going to be getting this person where she could see them.
So Lana hummed under her breath and weaved her way through the crowd of people to a little alcove set into one of the walls. It was remote enough that she would be able to see who was behind her and force them to come out, and it was close enough to the rest of the hall that if she screamed or made a scene, people would know to come help her. Hopefully that would be enough.
Just as she had expected, the person, who looked like a man, was forced out into the open as he ran out of places to hide. His eyes widened, and she saw that it was a man who wasn't even wearing a costume. He was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, and he looked pretty ordinary.
Lana arched an eyebrow and gave him a look, waiting to see what he had to say for himself.
“So you're probably wondering why I was following you,” he said, pushing his hands into his pockets and coming closer.
When she got a better look at him, she was surprised to see how old he looked. Well, not really old, but she had been expecting someone younger. A teenager or something who didn't know how to look and then leave well enough alone. He looked like he was at least in his mid-twenties.
“Yes,” Lana said firmly. “That would be nice.”
He gave her a smile, and she reluctantly admitted that it was a charming one, but resisted the urge to smile back.
“You're a cat burglar,” he explained. “The Cat Burglar with all capitals, actually. I didn't think I could just approach you in the thick of things.” He took a step closer. “You're all about stealth and style and skill. I wanted to prove that I have those things, too.”
Lana was taken a back, but she couldn't deny that she was i
