And as spring begins we see a week of endings: James Talbot's The Vixen's Den reaches its close, as does Edgar Allan Poe's Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym. The Coming Race will continue for a few more weeks yet, though, and Terror on Snail Island slithers stickily onwards.

Also this week we have the first in a space opera two-parter by some guy called Gavin Chappell, where a group of space travellers board an old generation ship to find that things have gone horribly wrong. A dead cat returns for its revenge on a callous motorist in Gary Murphy's Sammy, but if you find that too scary, Steve Laker is offering us his Comfort Blanket. Bram Stoker swings by to regale us with his grisly tale of The Burial of the Rats, and Hunter Quatermain tells his Story of high adventure on the veldt.

Meanwhile if you happen to be in the North West of England, and would like a chance to meet horror author Ramsey Campbell, among others, (including your ‘umble editor), why not come down to the Wirral History, Mystery, Music, Mind, Body and Soul Fair on 23rd May? Tickets now available (only £4 for adults, £2 for senior citizens) from http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wirral-history-mystery-music-mind-body-and-soul-fair-tickets-15861251430. That’s right; only four whole English pounds to meet the Master of Horror, the man S. T. Joshi called “the leading horror writer of our generation, every bit the equal of Lovecraft or Blackwood,” Ramsey Campbell himself! Roll up, roll up!
