Welcome to the Cthulhu Edition! The first edition of Schlock! to be dedicated to the Great Old One himself. Cthulhu ftaghn! Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn, or at least words to that effect.
By accident rather than design (or is something more sinister guiding these events? Something that hints at an awful purpose far, far beyond the understanding of Man, insouciantly inimical to his very existence? Something that almost certainly has... tentacles...?) this edition contains NOT ONLY, The Silver Key, the next installment of Lovecraftiana, in which our hero Randolph Carter, having lost the key to dreams at the age of thirty, revolts against the modern world and takes the highly sensible option of regressing into childhood, BUT it ALSO includes the final part of Nathan JDL Rowark's techno-gothic Cthulhu Mythos tale, Darklight, and ALSO Grindcore, another contribution from contemporary Mythos writer Benjamin Welton.
If you like nihilism, futilitarianism, and gratuitous use of a thesaurus; if you're terrified of fish and low temperatures; if your father was a syphilitic Egyptian Freemason and commercial traveller who, in his tormented death-throes, raved almost-comprehensibly about things man was not meant to know – then this week, Schlock! Webzine is the webzine for YOU.
Graduate under-achievement is another horror we'll be thematically exploring.
Lovecraftian lunacy aside, we've also got more stories from regular contributors Todd Nelsen, offering something in the cellar that has Hairy Legs, and Rob Bliss, who is outraging public opinion this week by crucifying choirboys; we also have the continuation of our serials Ayame's Love, The Initiation of Lantos, Varney the Vampyre and After London. Also, last but by no means least, we welcome Jospeh J Wood to our virtual pages, with Concealment, his eerie story of what lies beneath.
Still open for entries to the Schlock! Anthology Writing Competition....
