Brian Morenov is a rebellious Moscow teenager who is deported for car surfing on Brezhnev’s ZiL. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is the Nobel Prize winning writer who is stripped of his citizenship and deported for his anti-soviet writings.

Alan Nafzger wanted to tell the story of Solzhenitsyn’s expulsion from the USSR, but found it nearly impossible for a young audience. So, he has compressed his lifelong fight with communism into two years and added a rebellious surfing character.
