Fran West's picture books for children are designed to entertain, enchant, inform and affect. They encourage children to have a love of travel and different places and to be aware of the world around them. Help your kids excel.

A picture isn't just worth a thousand words, it opens up a lifetime of possibilities.

In this picture book there are 20 colourful photos of what people can see when they travel on the last 150 kilometres of El Camino (the Way).

The Pilgrim Trail originated centuries ago for religious pilgrims travelling a route from France to the shrine of Santiago de Compostela (Saint James) in Galicia, Spain. It winds its way through northern Spain, passing through towns, villages, farming land and mountains. People can choose to travel on foot, by bicycle or on horseback and as quickly or as slowly as they want. Along the way they can stop off for breaks at cafes and stay in hostels (albergues or refugios) or hotels at the end of the day. Some pilgrims can take days or several weeks to complete their chosen way.

Photos depicted from Fran’s walk are: a trail sign, a section of the trail, a trail marker, walkers, cyclists, horse riders, mountains, a bridge, hostel, farmhouse, tractor, cows, granary (for grain storage), a village, church, café, water fountain, backpacks, inside the Cathedral of Santiago and the statue of Saint James on it.

The first sequence is for looking and enjoying. The second sequence is for looking and learning. This time the photos have a word (or words) on them and can be used like flash cards.

Ideal for children who love Spain, hiking, outdoors, travel and adventure.
