This book analyses whether working as a freelancer (or contractor) is a suitable choice of career for someone who is currently permanently employed. Using personal experience from the last 10 years, the whole life cycle from considering a change in employment mode is made, providing guidance on "whether to do it" and "how to do it", seeking work and then undertaking it. Real experiences are cited which will give the reader confidence to take the plunge into a freelance career, make further considerations or stick in their current job.
The book discusses all elements of the freelance world in an amusing, but informative manner. At the very least, the reader will be given information and knowledge to assess whether they have the right skills, aptitude and/or personality to work on a contract basis.
Although the book is more appropriate to the UK than elsewhere, the principles discussed, especially with respect to whether to "take the jump", are applicable to most countries.
This book does not attempt to be a work of reference, but should be considered as a starting point to detailed research. However, one of the book's reviewers, after reading through a draft, put in his notice and started a successful freelance career !!!
