“We often pray hesitantly, timidly, fearfully, because we think that we have no authority or right to speak. We offer our requests with nullifying qualifications because we aren’t the ones to decide what to do anyway. There’s an important truth here...But this is only half of the Bible’s teaching on the subject, and we can’t let it cancel the other half. Paul does ask the question “Who knows the mind of the Lord, and who has been His counselor?” But when Paul asks this question in 1 Corinthians 2:16, he immediately goes on to say that “we have the mind of Christ.” Who knows God’s mind? The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. But we have this Spirit! And the Spirit has been given so that “we might know the things freely given to us by God” (1 Corinthians 2:12). Who knows God’s mind? The Father has communicated everything to the Son, and no one knows the Father except the Son – and those to whom the Son reveals Him. Who knows God’s mind? The Son. But we have the mind of Christ!”
