The Religion of Israel (English Edition)

Originally written in 1908, there was a distinctive purpose to the writing of "The Religion of Israel" authored by Arthur S. Peake. Mr. Peake readily admits up front, "This work is not a Theology of the Old Testament, but a History of the Religion of Israel. It is concerned with the development of the religion as a whole, not with the growth of individual doctrines. For two omissions the limits of space are responsible. It was necessary to leave out a sketch of Semitic religion, and to refrain from giving any but the slightest account of the religious institutions of Israel."
