This book is the first in a series of books written to help residents with the written boards. The questions cover the same topics as the in-training test; and as the topics don’t change much, the questions may seem familiar despite being new. The questions are not always politically correct and some may stir controversy. This is done to stimulate the creative juices that are always present but not always used.
The answers to the questions lead to a more detailed discussion of the matters at hand. Sometimes a question has more than one good answer, and sometimes a question has fewer than one good answer. This is true in this book, as it is on the exam, as it is in life. There are some occasions when we have differentiated between the best exam answer and the best answer in clinical practice.
The goal of the book is and will always be to make learning enjoyable.
