A CALL FOR HELP: TOBIAS RETURNS (English Edition)

Back in California, Mira and Ben, convinced that Tobias has called them, leave a quick note for Jacob, their father, take their bikes and head for the desert. Exhausted, they camp that night on the Armagosa River Trail. Here Mira meets Kwinn, a young Shoshone man who seems both wise and gentle, but somehow magical to her. At dawn she and Ben arrive at Tobias' grave as a storm approaches. A beautiful female coyote lies by the stone but disappears before they can get close to her. The teens take refuge in a small coffee shop nearby. They discover that some hunters are determined to kill the female coyote and her pups for their thick and beautiful russet fur. That night Jacob arrives. Mira sneaks out of the tiny motel when he and Ben have fallen asleep. The rain has stopped but all is shrouded in mist. Mira walks to the grave and lays down quietly. The female is there; she watches Mira intently. Mira has "borrowed" her father's gun from under the seat of his truck, but what good will that do against a group of rowdy hunters who believe that the coyote and her pups must die? When a gunshot startles them, the coyote vanishes and Mira scrambles to follow but soon she is lost. Will Kwinn appear to save her? Will Ben and her dad ever find her? And where is Tobias?
