Marie Oemler was an early 20th century writer. Her works include: Slippy McGee Sometimes Known as Butterfly Man (1917), The Purple Heights 9 1920), and A Woman Named Smith first published in 1919. Oemler's writing appealed to the popular taste for sensationalism when she wrote some of the more exciting adventure scenes in A Woman Named Smith. There are ghosts, secret chambers, and a near rape.
