    Sobre

The fast technological developments in society produce systems of every-increasing complexity. Highly reliable technical devices and systems are needed for monitoring and controlling their functioning, planning, maintenance, and corrective actions for given performance and economic parameters. These tasks reflect the various engineering fields and applied statistics activities that are accompanied by and based upon a broad range of stochastic models and reliability concepts. This new book presents the invited and edited contributions from an international workshop on Stochastic Models for Reliability, Quality, and Safety held in Schierke, Germany. The goal of this book is to provide a forum where theorists, applied statisticians, and practitioners share and present their current work and compare and evaluate models and methods. The book contains 22state-of-the-art surveys on recent results in stochastic models and reliability and related fields. The chapters are organized into four broad categories; lifetime analysis, reliability analysis, network analysis and process control.
