This guide has been designed by 7Winds’ equipment specialists to assist you in planning a successful outdoor adventure. This is merely a guide, and does not replace common sense! The items listed here are what we consider the bare minimums for proper preparedness, but that minimum is subjective and based on our own experiences. Plan according to your level of skill, and add as many items as you need (and can safely travel with). We have put this book together for use in the Carolinian and Boreal areas of Central Eastern North America (Ontario to the Carolina's, and everywhere East thereof). Please remember that specific areas have unique hazards and risks. Pack according to the situation, but use these sheets as a general guideline.

The Emergency Planning Guide is a full contingency plan designed for SAR technicians and local authorities to have immediate access to your information which will aid in a faster, and more efficient rescue should something happen during your trip. We often don't consider putting these plans in place before our trip; but if disaster does strike, we all hope that it's there, ready to be actioned by our friends, and the local authorities. Search and Rescue technician's (SAR Tech's) rely on gathering as much information as possible about a situation before beginning operations, and with this plan, you ensure they have the maximum amount of detail possible about your adventure, and who's with you.
