Volume 2 begins by continuing Owen's Exercitations on the Epistle to the Hebrews began in volume 1. Owen gives us a deep understanding of the parallels between the person of Christ and the office of the priesthood. One of the strongest relationships expounded by Owen is the relationship of the priesthood to both sin and grace. In the final exercitation Owen discusses the origin of the Sabbath. He tells of the way it was observed in the Old Testament. Then he contrasts the Old Testament model with the New Testament "Sabbath", the "Lord's Day." Owen ends the exercitation with practical observations on observing the Lord's Day. In the second half of Volume 2, Owen summarizes and extracts the central themes from his exposition in the remaining volumes. This edition contains an active table of contents and working footnotes.
