In Andrew Luck: The Inspiring Story of One of Football's Star Quarterbacks, you will learn the inspirational story of one of football's premier quarterbacks, Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck entered the league as one of the most promising prospects in recent league history. Some analysts said he was the best prospect they had ever scouted. To date, he has lived up to much of his hype. While he is just a few years into his career, Luck has demonstrated a seemingly innate ability to pass out of the pocket and lead an offense. It should come as no surprise that Luck made headlines in 2016 when he signed a contract extension with the Colts, which made him the highest paid player at the time in the league.

Read on to learn about Andrew Luck's journey through the years as he grew up to become the player and man that he is today.

    An excerpt from the book:

Andrew Austen W. Luck was born in Washington, D.C. on September 12, 1989, to lawyers Oliver Luck and the former Kathy Wilson. He is the oldest of four children. His sisters, Mary Ellen and Emily, and brother Addison, soon followed. Football is in Andrew’s genes. His dad was a history major and big-name quarterback when he played for the West Virginia Mountaineers. He was also very smart, and earned a 4.0 GPA. According to YourHoustonNews.com’s Pam Gibbens, Luck was a Rhodes Scholar finalist, a National Football Foundation scholar, and a two-time Academic All-American.

The Houston Oilers drafted Oliver Luck 44th overall in the 1982 NFL Draft. He would become entrenched as Warren Moon’s backup, per Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibi. At the time, Gibbens stressed that the average NFL player earned just $120,000 per year, a figure which pales in comparison to the millions today’s players make. She even notes that some NFL stars made less than $100,000 during Oliver Luck’s era.

The senior Luck – a native of Cleveland, Ohio – attributed his athletic prowess to his German-born mother.
“My dad was actually clumsy,” Oliver Luck told Gibbens in September 2005. “But he loved watching his kids play sports. I was one of four children. There were three boys and one girl. Both of my parents were chemical engineers.” He also emphasized his father, William, was not interested in football or sports, for that matter. In fact, ESPN’s Chris Jones wrote that William Luck was surprised his son went on to play high school football in Northeast Ohio. The family did not watch football on television. Oliver Luck putting his pads on during his adolescent years came as a mild shock to his parents.
