    Sobre

APOLOGIA PRO VITA SUA AND OTHER WRITINGS includes seven works by Cardinal John Henry Newman, a noted English theologian, churchman, and prominent convert to Catholicism from Anglicanism. Cardinal Newman wrote his autobiography, APOLOGIA PRO VITA SUA, in 1864 in response to attacks on himself, the Catholic Church, and Catholic doctrine by Charles Kingsley. APOLOGIA expounds Newman's religious views, and explores his conversion from Anglicanism to Catholicism. APOLOGIA was key in making Newman one of the leading Catholics in England.

John Henry Newman (1801-1890) was an important religious figure in 19th Century Britain. Originally an Oxford academic and clergyman in the Anglican Church, Newman was an influential member of the Oxford Movement, a movement of Anglicans who wanted to return the Church of England to more Catholic beliefs and forms of worship. Newman himself converted to Catholicism in 1845 and rose to become a Cardinal in the Church. He was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.
