    INTERESTING FACTS:
    § Grimshaw was self-taught as a painter. In 1858, he left his job as a clerk to pursue painting full-time.
    § He and his wife moved to a 17th century mansion in Leeds, Castle by the Sea, after three of their children died.
    § Grimshaw exhibited five paintings at the Royal Academy and one at the Grosvenor Gallery.
    § In the 1880’s, Grimshaw had a studio in London that was close to James McNeill Whistler’s studio. Whistler conceded that Grimshaw was the premiere painter of Nocturnes, moonlight scenes.

    NOTABLE WORKS:
    Park Row, Leeds; Shipping on the Clyde, and Liverpool from Wapping.
