This booklet is a collection of articles that bring together five years experience of full-time travel, focussed on backpacking or independent travel in Europe.*
It is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to the cities of Europe, nor is it meant to tell you how to pack your socks or find a street map. Rather, it focuses on tactics to make the most expensive parts of your trip — the transport — cheaper, which is why almost half the booklet is given over to a discussion of public transport in Britain and also to Eurail Passes for use on the continent.
A chapter is given to the best cities to visit in Europe, but — although we make mention of London, Amsterday and Paris — we have attempted to bring to light some others which don't get as much of a spotlight. Cities which backpackers will love.
We also spend a little time examining the need for paperwork, especially the expensive and somewhat mystic art of finding good travel insurance before you leave home.
Although short — it comes in at just over 5,000 words — it's full of links to other resources to help you with booking tickets, finding accommodation, and even packing your socks.
Enjoy, and travel well!
