Professional organizers seem to be born, not made. Before we joined the ranks of NAPO, the people who call themselves "professional organizers" were educated in other careers and had jobs they loved or hated but left for various reasons. What we seem to have always had in common is the knack for organizing (although our clients call it our "gift"), but not one among us thought about turning Professional Organizing into a full or part-time career. And sometimes, suddenly or with thought, a recession happens, a new family is started, a parent dies ... and these experiences plant seeds of change and the Professional Organizer is born.
