The field of bioseparation refers to those techniques in biotechnology that are used for cleaning, extracting or separating mixtures of biological molecules. These techniques are of crucial importance in the biotechnological production of products such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. They are also extremely important in food additives and analytical chemistry, especially when certain components of a sample are separated to enhance analysis, as in DNA analyzation.
