    Sobre

In this introduction and synthesis of the historical works of three noted historians I wish to present the argument that Braudel, Koselleck and Pocock have many times opposite views of the same historical data, each contributes something which is important to the overall contributions of historical theory and its development. Braudel, Koselleck and Pocock can be seen as individualist who are seeking a fresh understanding of historical time and the essential role of the historian to understand the natural events that take place in our lives and the way in which they are communicated or reported to society. I believe this approach to history is both necessary and essential. Necessary because historians are a professional group of thinkers who contribute to the ongoing dialogue of humanity; essential, because though historians contribute to helping humanity understand its past, in order to move forward to future events, they must ever search for methods and strategies which are both scientific and innovative if they are to remain at the head of their fields. The lasting influences of Braudel, Koselleck and Pocock prove that their works, some more than others, have caught the attention of their colleagues and have made significant contributions to warrant attention to their works.
