Brazilian Legal Trends in Technology and Intellectual Property (English Edition)

    Por Fabio Kujawski

    Sobre

The technological developments seen in the last twenty years have transformed the way people relate to each other. This change poses complex challenges for practitioners of the law, as they attempt to apply it to the new social phenomena that this revolution brings. In this context, the laws, values and other aspects of law-making have to be rethought. This is happening all over the world. The approval of the Internet Act (Law No. 12965/14) takes on special relevance in this context, with its attempt to define principles, guarantees and rights for the use of the internet in Brazil. In addition to analyzing some of the more important aspects of the new law (such as privacy and liability relating to internet access and application providers), this book presents a practical and objective study of intellectual property in Brazilian law and its relationship with other areas of legal practice. We discuss competition, litigation and civil law issues, in the field of technology and intellectual property (including, technology agreements, trademarks, franchises, software and so on). Our aim has been to approach these issues from a contemporary perspective, rather than to dwell on out-of-date concepts. The more the law (and the way it is applied) is aligned with the new social phenomena of this modern digital era, the better it will serve society. Pleasant reading!
