Composed by Stephen Collins Foster in 1849, Camptown Races is a minstrel song that resembles Dan Emmett's Old Dan Tucker. The song was a big hit with minstrel troupes and together with Oh Susanna, Camptown Races is one of the gems of the minstrel era.
