This book contains transcriptions of CIA documents about the Former Detention and Interrogation Program, released to the public through the Freedom of Information Act on June 13, 2016. It contains memos, emails, audits, and official Inspector General reports. It gives detailed descriptions of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EITs) and the legal justification for them. The documents contain backgrounds of detainees, names of High Value Targets (HVD), as well as details about missteps: deaths of inmates, innocent men wrongfully accused, and unapproved interrogation methods. Documents in the collection explain parts of the rendition process, first steps of interrogation, along to increasing intense EITS. Footnotes from the original documents are included, as well as added notes and list of common military abbreviations used in the texts. The documents are ordered by date, but the editor has also included a list of suggested texts for different topics.
