Sir William Blackstone (1723-1780) was considered one of the founders of legal philosophy. Blackstone, who became a patron of King George III, wrote extensively on English Common Law. Blackstone’s four book series of Commentaries on the Laws of England has had a large influence on the development of the American legal system.
