Deception in Estes Park (English Edition)

This is a historical novel set in Estes Park, Colorado primarily in 1880. Historically, the Fourth Earl of Dunraven, an Irish noble, illegally acquired 15,000 acres of land for his private hunting preserve and was opposed by bona fide settlers who felt that Dunraven's action restricted the use of their land. Among the settlers was Rocky Mountain Jim Nugent, a colorful and enigmatic character who is killed by his former friend, Griff Evans who had joined the Dunraven faction. The fictional part of the story focuses on Rocky Mountain Jim's son Alec, Kate Whyte, Alec's love interest who is the niece of Dunraven's ruthless Estes property manager, and sadistic Henry Miller who is after gold that Ute Indians had told Dunraven about. The story is full of twists and turns and moves inexorably toward a deadly confrontation and a surprise ending.
