IN DEDICATION TO MY OLDEST FRIEND…CHESTER
“There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living…” - Jose N. Harris
DOWN ON THE CORNER IN MY SAN PAULO
Time Passages and dysfunctional mental portals...Flash Gordening back to the old and favorite windswept streets in san Paulo...there on yet another Sunday Morning when the rain begins to fall...
Thank God! With the drought and all.
I lit another cigarette, wondered if you would be there at all?
I believe that I have seen you, up on the distant street over in the business district staring out, from time-to-time, out at the endless life changes from the never ending wake of time and you told me about how everything was slipping away, floating out on every passing train…
The other night, we were coming back for a short hop to Rio and we were flying back to a beautifully lit San Paulo twilight...I was riding in the shotgun seat on this ancient, piper cub running only on a single cylinder and the sheer willpower of the loudly cursing pilot...all the while he was equally beseeching divine intervention in every alternate breathe...luckily most of his urgent conversation was lost on me as my Portuguese is really bad and thankfully, I was able to get the shot…with my trusty Nikon F4s.
Needlessly to mention…we did make it down to the ground by means of a rough landing on an almost deserted, side street…
I am looking out of my window and what a sight to see...I see the city looking back at me...San Paulo!
I stole that line...I must admit...from an ancient song by the group Traffic...
But, it is still cool to finally have a need to say.....
