Enemy Fire: Atlanta Burns Again (English Edition)

It is spring of 1917. America has entered the Great War with mixed emotions. An eager twenty-something adventuress, Electra Wilson Hurt, sets out to trade her comfortable but boring life in Chicago for the promise to help solve a mystery in Atlanta. Her best friend Pearl Hartsfield is convinced that the next door neighbor is a German spy. The two embark on a quest to uncover the reason for the gentleman's unusual nocturnal habits. From the bucolic neighborhoods of genteel Atlanta to the seedy warehouse district the two pursue their prey. A freak thunderstorm forces Wilson to take shelter in a fire station where she meets the handsome Captain Perry Courtney who is smitten with her. She, on the other hand, is not so sure about him. This wrinkle in her visit complicates the investigation. Moreover, may derail her mission to understand the nature of the mysterious neighbor's odd behavior. Is he a German spy? An anarchist? A bootlegger? Or something else? How is her fine captain involved in this? As Atlanta burns for a second time, our heroine embarks on a nightmare pursuit. One in which she may not survive.
