The Farside and Nearside systems are at war with each other. The entire Milky Way Galaxy is split between them. After an accident at a mining facility, Adrien Palgrave has no memory of his life, and more disturbingly, he has voices in his head.
As he struggles to integrate back into the galaxy, a mysterious Professor contacts him about the voice in his head. The Professor claims it is the voice of a long since vanished alien race known as the Nexus.
Adrien doesn't know what to make of the Professor, but his description of the Nexus scares him.
The Professor claims the Nexus was an advanced neural pathway across the Milky Way, a living consciousness. The most advanced life to have ever lived.
And the Professor says something else. The Nexus ran. It fled.
