Satyajit Ray (May 2, 1921 – April 23, 1992), was a film maker and one of the greatest film directors of the twentieth century and as a well-known writer. He was also a composer and producer of many films. His first film Pather Panchali, won 11 international awards. He was a creator of two most popular fictional characters in Bengali literature- One detective Feluda, another scientist Professor Shanku. He also wrote many short stories as like ‘Eker Pithe Dui‘, ‘Ek Dozan Galpo‘ etc. Most of his writings have been translated into English. Another character of his creation was ‘Tarini Khuro’.
