Figures of Speech: The Official Handbook is the definitive collection of approximately 50 Figures of Speech modeled on the forms developed by the Ancient Greeks and Romans. The body of this work is divided into two sections: Schemes and Tropes. Schemes deal with the mechanics of word-order; Tropes with the “turn of a phrase”. The pronunciation of each Figure of Speech, however bulky or obscure, is clearly rendered for the reader to pronounce with ease. Examples for each Scheme and Trope are provided from contemporary film, song, literature, politics and culture.
