Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) stories are fun and enjoy a growing audience of readers worldwide. They’re a book crossed with a game, what reader could resist? But CYOA stories aren’t just fun to read, they’re fun to write as well, once you understand what’s required. They’re different from any other kind of genre story, but the differences are easily laid out and understood. After I worked out what was required of a CYOA story I’ve been able to write them. They really aren’t very difficult when you have a plan.
This book will give you that plan. In what follows I give a blueprint of sorts for how to set up a CYOA story. Once you get the hang of it you won’t need this blueprint, but it will have done what it’s meant to do: help get you started.
