This is a short story. I became interested in the mind after the death of my wife, Margaret. I wanted to know “where did she go?” “Where did her thoughts go?” “Where did the sound of her voice go?” It made me think maybe the body is an outer being and inside is the real person, the inner man, who is constantly thinking, wondering – an intelligent life force. This inner man is known as the soul, spirit or psyche.
As a paraplegic it became an obsession for me to find out about our existence and the meaning of life. I mainly concentrated on the mind as it is a mystery how it operates and believe its functions are separate from the brain.
