    Kierkegaard’s Apple (English Edition)

    Por A. B. Canto

    Sobre

Alice in Wonderland meets Kafka in this thoroughly modern work of absurdist fiction. Kierkegaard’s Apple is a fantastical allegory told in multiple narratives which all revolve around the discovery of a previously unknown Kierkegaardian manuscript. The cast of characters range from a stuffy university Professor confounded by pangs of love; to his sentient Right Shoe and ‘his’ (for all Right Shoes are male) courtship of a marmalade cat; to Bertie the Bomber Baxter, an embittered World War I&II fighter pilot with a voracious eye for the macabre. And not forgetting the insightful Miss Emily Lemon, a seven year old girl with a penchant for composing nonsense poetry and of course, an elephantine apparition of Kierkegaard himself. Together, these interlinking voices celebrate the variety and ultimately, the absurdity of existence.

    About the Author
    A. B. Canto was born amidst fabrics worthy of a king in the stables on his father’s silkworm farm in the Lower Atlas mountains. Whilst trading along the Silk Road as a boy, his incredible likeness to Michelangelo’s statue of David caught the eye of a wealthy merchant, who subsequently convinced Canto Senior (with the help of a couple of donkeys and 100 kilos of almonds) that his son should travel with him to Europe, where the boy would learn of high finance and spreadsheets and so manage the merchant’s accounts. A few years into his studies and disillusioned by men in tweed suits, the young Canto took to dolphin training, which is where his love of reading, and eventually writing, began. For on one fateful night when the dolphins were particularly restless he was to discover that they were just as inclined to a bedtime story as you or I. And do you know what the first book he read to the shimmering dolphins, unearthed in a rusty and abandoned locker, was? It was none other than that great work of love and woe: The Seducer’s Diary by Søren Kierkegaard.

Only one part of the above story is true. But what does it matter which part of it really is :)
