Latin Stories for Children is the third in a series of Four Books which aim to encourage Children who have basic reading skills (ages 5-9) to become adept in very basic language skills in Latin and Ancient Greek.
The four volumes are: My First Latin Learner, My First Ancient Greek Learner, Latin Stories for Children and Ancient Greek Stories for Children.
In this third volume 'Latin Stories for Children' children are given three key stories in English with certain words substituted for their Latin Equivilent. The Latin word is then glossed and explained at the end. This system allows children to put some Basic Latin into the context of a sentence.
This third volume aims to give children brief contact with an Illustrious ancient language, and to hopefully encourage them to learn more. It is also very useful as a way of increasing their fluency and literacy in English as a result.
The stories included in this volume are: 'Romulus et Remus', 'Rupes Tarpeia' and 'Gaius Mucius Scaevola'. These tell the tales of Rome's foundation, the story of a foolish youth, and the story of a brave youth.
