The premise of this ebook is simple enough – two of de Maupassant's book are presented side-by-side with an English translation which follows the French text as closely as possible.

As an experienced language learner, my advise would be on the first reading to go through the French exclusively and revert to the English only once you lose the sense of the story. On the second reading you can then pick out new vocabulary items for learning – having already read through the text once you should be able to work out the meaning of many unknown words from context.
