    Legendary Days (English Edition)

    Por Bernardo Bueno

    Sobre

Legendary Days is a geeky novel about saving memories. After losing his father, Max writes down his memories in a narrative that plays with geek culture. Set in Southern Brazil, it is also a family tale, a coming of age story and an investigation of identity. It follows the same character in three different times and contexts, referencing videogames, comics and fantasy novels. The main chapters also alternate with word clouds, game reviews, and interactive sections written in computer code. Legendary Days takes inspiration mostly from Junot Díaz’s "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" and Douglas Coupland’s "Microserfs", but also from Calvino's "Invisible Cities" and Borges's short stories.

Praise for Minimundo, Bernardo's short story collection:

"Reminiscent of the Ficciones of Borges and Calvino’s Cosmicomics, Bernardo Moraes’ Minimundo offers a succession of brief takes on a world where the narrator plays Playstation with God, outwits zombies, is offered three wishes by the Demon of Coca Cola. Minimundo is currently available only in extremely witty Portuguese, but anyone familiar with French, Italian, Spanish, Catalan or Romanian could probably understand enough to see why this is a wonderful book." - Helen DeWitt, author of The Last Samurai
