Karl Claw is but one name for Marcus Canidae, a man trying to outrun his destiny. The offspring of a human and an alf, he has unnatural strength, and many foresaw that he would fulfill a great purpose. But Marcus doesn’t care about prophecy or power. Too many heartbreaking betrayals have led him to reject the religion, politics, and social customs of Terra Vera. He only wishes to spend the rest of his days alone, away from those who seek to exploit or destroy him.
Marcus doesn’t get his wish. When he meets a young girl with powers and troubles similar to his own, he feels compelled to act. She is mystically connected to a dragon of great power, and the beast is on a desperate rampage to find her.
