Life With Mama is my memoir of life growing up in a small southern Georgia town, Warner Robins, where we moved to in 1951, when I was 3 years old, the youngest of five children. Mama was newly divorced and discovered that Robins Air Force Base had openings and was hiring for better paying jobs. She was on her own now and needed to provide for her family, so she packed us all up, including her mama and daddy with her twin sister, her husband and their two children coming along to embark on a new adventure. Most of us were all born in Fort Valley, Georgia, just a few miles away, but mama and her family had lived and grown up there all their lives. My short stories are comprised of the humorous and mischievous adventures, the struggles, and sometimes the endearing times we faced, along with mama's brave endeavor to bring up 5 mischievous children. Also the wonderful friends that help made our childhood a treasure trove of unforgettable memories that will forever warm the hearts of many. Our mama was a truly remarkable woman of great fortitude, courage, hard work and stamina. We still ask ourselves "how did she manage it all?" Her example of unconditional love, discipline, endurance, faith, strength and the ability to laugh even through the tough times brought us through from childhood to adulthood with everlasting love and admiration. In my eyes she was my hero whom I thought would live forever and never accepted the fact that she would not always be here. She joined the angels in 2004 at the young age 86, and left a void that will never be replaced, although I have the Lord and my faith to carry me through, not a day goes by without missing her laughter and smile. My Book is an expression of that love in words and pictures from our lives growing up with our amazing Mama...
