Memorable Quotations: Blaise Pascal (English Edition)
Sobre
Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) was a French scientist and religious philosopher. A mathematical genius, Pascal created the modern theory of probability, discovered the properties of the cycloid, and added to the advance of differential calculus. In physics his experiments in the equilibrium of fluids led to the development of the hydraulic press. After an overpowering religious experience in 1654, Pascal entered the convent at Port-Royal, subsequently dedicating his attention principally to religious writing. His best-known works are Provincial Letters (1656) and the posthumously published Pensées (1670), which expound the requirement of mystic faith in comprehending the universe.
