O Mundo do Virgínia: Uma época difícil. Hard times

Imagine-se vivendo na Inglaterra no reinado da rainha Victoria. Época marcada pelo advento e fundamentação da Revolução Industrial. Nesse período fortemente marcado pelo advento das locomotivas, do telégrafo, da fotografia, das máquinas a vapor, da descoberta até da bicicleta, vamos encontrar populações inteiras em migração do campo para a cidade. Nesse clima de descobertas que transformariam a vida do homem na terra, propusemo-nos a escrever um romance voltado para a história. Não aquela história maçante, vista nos colégios como paradigmas a serem decorados, com nomes, datas, períodos históricos. Procuramos escrever um romance que diz isso tudo – em termos de Revolução Industrial - mas sem a exposição tipo “decoreba” da matéria história. É um romance histórico fundamentado. Nele, luta, ambição, raiva, tédio, exploração, amor e ódio mesclam-se para constituir a história da pequena Virgínia, moradora desses sombrios anos de 1800. Após ter ficado órfã de pai e mãe, a menina é adotada por outra família de camponeses. Mas os camponeses estão gradualmente sendo expulsos de suas terras para aproveitamentos comerciais. As cidades estão “inchando” de campesinos em busca de trabalho. Imagine yourself living in England in the reign of Queen Victoria. Time marked by the advent and foundation of the Industrial Revolution. During this period strongly marked by the advent of locomotives, the telegraph, photography, of the steam engine, the discovery by bike, we will find entire populations in the field of migration to the city. In this climate of discoveries that would transform the life of man on earth, we set out to write a novel facing history. Not that dull story, seen in schools as paradigms to be decorated, with names, dates, historical periods. Try writing a novel that says it all - in terms of the Industrial Revolution - but without the exposure type "rote" matter of history. It is a reasoned historical novel. In it, fighting, greed, anger, boredom, exploitation, love and hate are beautifully combined to form the story of the little Virginia, a resident of these dark years of 1800. Having been orphaned of both parents, the child is adopted by another family peasants. But the peasants are gradually being driven from their lands for commercial exploitations. Cities are "swelling" of peasants in search of work
