Victor is a complicated man with early Parkinson's disease, which makes him isolated in his home. On an ordinary afternoon, he’s approached by Nikolina, a young woman who works in the library and offers to look for books not returned in Victor’s place. However, before Victor can express his interest in her, she starts dating his younger brother and soon afterwards they get married.
Nikki doesn’t love him and shortly after they separate, she loses the baby she was expecting, giving Victor one more chance with her, but he’s tempted to act right with her so that he doesn’t make her suffer, giving her away in view of his relationship with his brother.
However, even in the face of Victor's determination, Nikolina believes that he’s the love of her life and refuses to accept that Victor's brother or his illness remain between what they feel for each other.
