This course empowers the Power BI Developer to hit the ground running in the real world.
Take the student on a journey from a fairly basic knowledge of IT literacy such as working knowledge of Excel to the ability to create accurate, timely, attractive and incisive Power BI dashboards. The newly skilled Power BI developer will then be able to demonstrate their skills on their own laptop which conceptualises real world scenarios. The vast majority of Power BI users have SQL Server as their main data source which a few percent using Oracle and a few percent using MySQL.
This course aims to equip the delegate with the skills to successfully perform as a Professional Power BI Developer within the IT Department of a medium to large organisation or within a IT consultancy.

Develop Power BI solutions within PowerBI.com integrated within Excel 2016 using Excel online
Empower Business Users to validate charts by drilling into high performing tabular reports.
Integrate these PowerBI reports within SSRS 2016 and integrate SSRS 2016 reports within Power BI.
System requirements. To enable you to create a virtual server environment you will need a reasonably powerful laptop or desktop PC with; -
At least 8Gb of RAM (16Gb recommended).
Windows 10 Professional installed,
A good performing processor, Intel Core i7+ highly recommended.
A good performing hard disk. 200 Gb Solid State Drive very highly recommended.
Monitor with at least a 1280 * 1024 resolution, the higher the better!

The increased adoption of Power BI within large organisations will empower advanced Excel users to develop their own reports where these reports were previously developed by a Business Intelligence team. Therefore Business Intelligence developers with have increased opportunity to focus on MDM tools such as SQL Server Master Data Services, and Data Quality Services in addition to forecasting tools such as Data Mining and R services.
The increase in self-service reporting is likely to increase MDM requirements. However Power BI is very much a part of the solution since when you create a Power BI model you are as a default not creating new tables you are extending the use of existing tables with calculations and measures. This is opposed to the existing applications used as self-service reporting tools such as Excel and MS Access which are often the only in budget self-service reporting tools for public sector organisations.
So Power BI is already encouraging a single source of truth of the data. As stated earlier hopefully business intelligence developers will be able to focus more on MDM as they are able to hand over some of the less complex report development to staff who are currently advanced Excel users.
