Jesus never gave us a definition of trust at anytime in His ministry. He furnished no theological discussion or analysis of it.
Instead, He demonstrated it by His trust in His Father. He knew that men would see that such trust was attained by what faith accomplished, as His faith in the One who sent him demonstrated. From faith’s free exercise, trust in Jesus would develop and grow.
Trust grows the same way today as it did then: in His presence. Faith and trust were and are the products of Jesus Christ’s work, His power, His Person, His oneness in the Trinity, His love for us.
