Radicalisation and subcultures: a theoretical analysis (Youth Voice Journal Book 6) (English Edition)

This evidence based article asks whether we could talk about radicalised subcultures in relation to recent cases of young people deliberately flee to Syria. To achieve this it will: 1. Overview the concept of subcultures and identify which elements can be linked to the experience of young people engaging with extremis; 2. Suggest how the philosophical concept of transgression can cast a different perspective on the reasons why young people engage with radical practices.
